Northern Germany

Driving through northern Germany, the gigantic yellow fields of Rabsen were truly impressive. Our first stop was the town of Bremen known for its art deco architecture. From there we drove through the hilly region of Lüneburger Heide although we could not understand what all the hype was about. With Shadae still immobile due to her ankle, we bypassed Hamburg and headed to Ratzebürgsee, a beautiful lake with a fantastic tranquil campsite. We set up the tent of the caravan which added a much larger living space for us & a larger crawl safe area for Kyra. On a daytrip we visited the fairytale like city of Lübeck with its Disney like entrance gate. The nearby fishing village of Gothmund with its thatched roofed houses was quaint and very well maintained.

Though our 5 day trip through Northern Germany was super short, it gave shadae’s ankle some time to heal and having gotten a small taste of the region, we will return in the near future as it is very close to Belgium.
